The premise

Real roads. Real week. Real group.

The Tour's final week is decided in the Alps. We base out of Grenoble — the perfect launchpad for Alpe d'Huez, the Col du Galibier, the Croix de Fer and the Lautaret. Ride the same hairpins the GC contenders fight over, then watch the race fly past from a roadside picnic.

Day by day

The route.

Distances and elevations are guides — every day has a longer and shorter option, and the support van is never far.

    Arrival & Shakeout

Bike fit, café and a gentle valley spin out of Grenoble.

Land in Grenoble, collect your bike at the hub, sort fit and pedals, then roll out for a 50km shakeout along the Isère to loosen the travel legs.

    Col du Galibier

The roof of the Tour — 2,642m of pure history.

Over the Lautaret and on up the Galibier — the climb Henri Desgrange called the only one worthy of the Tour. Support car the full way, hot coffee at the top.

    Alpe d'Huez — 21 Hairpins

The most famous switchbacks in cycling.

Up the 21 bends, name-check every Dutch corner, then descend the quiet back side via Villard-Reculas. Recovery beers in Bourg d'Oisans.

    Race Day — Roadside

Picnic on the climb, then watch the peloton fly past.

Ride up early to claim a corner, set up the picnic, and let the race come to you. Beer, baguettes, and the unmistakable thwap of the publicity caravan.

    Croix de Fer Loop

A quieter Alpine giant — and the best descent of the week.

The Col de la Croix de Fer climbs in three distinct sections through the Maurienne valley. A long, fast descent back to Grenoble closes the week.
